An invitation is the start of a wedding. So why do we refer to an invite as something such as ” I don’t want to spend a lot on an invitation, it’s just a piece of paper, the guests will throw it out…
Well, IT SHOULD NOT BE JUST A PIECE OF PAPER. Its actually the only thing tangible that your guests can keep.Custom wedding invitations allow the couple to express themselves through design. EVERY INVITATION HAS A SENSE OF STYLE LET US CAPTURE YOURS
When it comes to trends and invitations they do tend to vary and truly depend on the couple or the individual of course. The trends that are sure to be very popular in 2018 are:
1. Blush and Rose Gold
2. Pantone announced the color of the year which is the Ultra Violet, however because it’s such a strong colour I would envision it more in the fall season. And I love mixing it up with hints of rich gold.
3. Laser cuts are also very popular for 2018.
In my opinion, I would not get influenced by trends. Follow your heart and follow the style that you both have created together.
THE BEGINNING
Start with save-the-dates, they should go out 5 to 9 months before the wedding. Ordering everything from one stationer can save you money and make the invitation process easier on you. Scout the stationers 10 to 12 months before the wedding and aim to order your invitations about 6 to 7 months before. For a destination wedding, send out your invites even earlier (9/10 months ahead). It’s important to start with inspirations, gather up all the pretty details. You can take a look at my social media pages - Instagram & FB as an example.
LET YOUR INVITATIONS BE THE ONE THE KEEP FOREVERA
great invitation designer will guide you from an ordinary piece of paper into decorative piece of art that ties into your style together. There are many different elements and ways to use color and design, and by using these elements it can bring the cost down.
EXTRA, EXTRA
It’s expensive to go back and print more invitations after the complete order has been placed and lets not mention the extra expense on shipping costs. Order enough invitations for your guest list, plus an extra 5/10 in case your list changes from the time you placed an order.
ADDRESS YOUR INVITATIONS
When you order your invitations, you should get someone other than your stationer (say, a calligrapher) to print the write out your addresses on your envelopes it just completes the whole custom package and makes the invite all more personal. We highly recommend it, and it makes an elegant first impression.
ITS ALL IN THE DETAILS…
Your wedding tells your love story, therefore all your stationary from the invitations to your menus, your programs and thank-you notes should all be designed by one designer so they look uniformed from start to finish.
LAST WORDS
Before you go ahead and book your appointment make sure you know roughly what you want:colour, design and what type of style ( pocket invite, one page, foil print, engraved, embosser etc. ) Do as much research as you can to help you to create a reasonable budget and most of all to have fun with the process.
Don’t forget, the key to custom invitations - The first impression is your invitation… Let it begin with a smile!
